Description

Small to medium-sized evergreen tree to 15 m tall. Leaves 4.5-17 cm long, ovate, elliptic or oblong-elliptic. Flowers 1.8 cm across, clustered in axils of leaves, cream, fragrant. Fruits 2-3 cm long, ovoid, ripening orange-red.

Ecology

Rocky headlands and inland forests.

Distribution

India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indochina, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia.

Uses

Widely planted as street tree, for both the tree form and fragrant flowers.
