Semi-deciduous tree to 20 m tall. Leaves alternate, compound with 2-4 pairs of short-stalked leaflets. Flowers in terminally branched inflorescence, 1.2-2 cm long, reddish green to purplish brown. Fruits 3-5 cm long, deeply 3-lobed, splitting into 3 papery-veined sections each with 1-3 black seeds.
