Description

Small evergreen tree to c. 9 m tall. Leaves c. 30 cm long, oppositely arranged, broadly elliptic to obovate. Flowers on solitary heads, 0.8-3 cm across, corolla tube 10-12 mm long, tubular, white. Fruiting heads oblong to ovoid, 1.2-5.5 cm long, ripening whitish to yellowish.


Ecology

In lowland forests and rocky coasts.

Distribution

India to Indochina, SE Asia.

Uses

Often cultivated in villages for its fruits.
