Small deciduous shrub to small tree, 5-10 m tall. Leaves 2-7.5 cm long, simple, distichous, elliptic to oblong-elliptic. Flowers unisexual and bisexual, male and female flowers on the same tree, on leafless parts of main branches, pinkish. Fruits c. 2 cm across, globular with longitudinal ribs, densely clustered, pale yellow to white.
