Small tree to 18 m tall. Leaves 5-20 cm long, oval to elliptic. Flowers cream or pale yellow in dendse clusters at leaf axils. Fruits 0.6-1.2 cm long, orange-pink ripening red to purple then black, elllipsoid to ovoid.
Ecology
Lowland evergreen forests, often near streams.

Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, throughout Malesia to NE Australia and Solomon Is.
