Description

Flowers unisexual, male and female on separate trees. Both male and female flowers on racemes, yellow, fragrant, male racemes up to 15 cm long, female to 75 cm long. Fruits 2-5 cm long, velvety pinkish, yellow or brown skin, ovoid.


Ecology

Lowland forest to 1,000 m elevation.

Distribution

Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra and Borneo.

Uses

Fruits are edible and sometimes sold in village markets when in season.
