Description

Large evergreen tree to 30 m tall with rounded bushy crown. Leaves 12-20 cm long, elliptic-ovate, opposite. Flowers 2.5-3.8 cm across, in dense terminal or axillary clusters, white. Fruits c. 4 cm long, ellipsoid, remaining green when ripen.


Ecology

In forest on rocky sea shores and sandy beaches.

Distribution

SE India, Myanmar, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Borneo.

Uses

Frequently planted as roadside tree.
