Description

Small spreading tree with very large leaves and large reddish figs in short ropes from the branches to the base of trunk. Leaves 30 cm or more long, heart-shaped. Figs 5-9 cm across, stalked, pear-shaped, reddish brown, edible, flesh red-purple.


Ecology

Lowland forest.

Distribution

Himalayas, S China, Indo-China, Thailand and possible wild in N Peninsular Malaysia.

Uses

Cultivated for its edible fruits.
