Artocarpus dadah Miq. (MORACEAE)

Description

Medium-sized to fairly large deciduous tree up to 35 m tall, 100 cm diam., cut stem exude white latex. Leaves simple, 10-30 cm long, obovate-oblong. Separate male and female flowers on the same tree. Syncarps (fused fruits) subglobose to c. 5 cm across with a smooth surface with deep pink flesh.


Ecology

Common in lowland forests; frequent in villages.

Distribution

Myanmar, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo.

Uses

Fruits are edible but sour. The timber traded as keledang timber.
