Description
Large tree to 45 m tall with thick rounded crown. Leaves 18-40 cm long, trifoliate. Flowers small, c. 5 mm across, yellow-green to white, in branched clusters. Fruits 5-8 cm across, subglobose, ripening yellowish brown to pale brown.
Ecology
Lowland evergreen forest.
Distribution
Widely planted in tropical Asia but wild form probably extending from Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra to New Guinea.
Uses
Planted widely for its edible fruits, both fresh or cooked.
