Description

Deciduous tree to 20 m tall. Leaves 12-24 cm long, clustered towards end of twigs, oblong-elliptic to obovate with cordate base, young shoots densely covered with soft hairs. Flowers unisexual, c. 0.5 cm across in lax pendulous clusters 8-30 cm long, pink to reddish brown. Fruits 5-12 cm long in groups of 2-3(-5) on pendulous common stalk, oblong-obovoid, leathery, densely yellow-brown hairy.


Ecology

Scattered in lowland forest.

Distribution

Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Borneo.

Uses

Sometimes planted as ornamental.
