Semi-deciduous tree 10-20 m tall with dense pyramidal crown. Leaves 20-25 cm long, opposite or in whorls, obovate. Flowers c. 1 cm long, yellow, clustered on long pendulous raceme, up to 40 cm long. Fruits 2 cm long.
Ecology
Amazon rainforest in open and secondary formations, usually on land not subjected to inundation.
