Description

Large-sized evergreen tree to 45 m tall with spreading rounded crown and stout columnar trunk. Leaves compound, 3-4 pairs of leaflets 5-10 cm long, with thick marginal veins, elliptic to ovate or slightly obovate and asymmetric base. Flowers in narrow clusters, 15-30 cm long, pale yellow, 6.5-7.5 cm long. Fruits 5-8 cm long, oval or elliptic with curved beak, often asymmetric, strongly flattened, not spiny or hairy.


Ecology

Lowland evergreen forest.

Distribution

Peninsular Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatran and Borneo.

Uses

Timber is not durable, often attractively figured and used often for indoor constructions as ornamental cabinets and furniture.
