Brazilian Ironwood, Leopard Tree
Description
Semi-deciduous tree with wide, flat-topped crown, 10-15 m tall, diam. 40-60 cm. Leaves compound, 2-pinnate, in 3-4 pairs. Flowers 4-merous, yellow. Fruits elongated legume 6-10 cm long.
Ecology
Atlantic rainforest and dry land forest, in valley bottoms subjected to seasonal flooding.
Distribution
Brazil and Bolivia
Uses
Ornamental tree or street tree. Wood produces a high quality timber.
