Description

Small tree to 20 m tall. Leaves bipinnate with 1(2) pairs of pinnae, main stalk 5-15 cm long. Flowers pale yellow in small heads grouped in branched clusters. Fruits tightly twisted in a coil, c. 7.5-9 cm across, dull red dehiscing and exposing black seeds hanging out on strings.


Ecology

Common in forest and open areas, often by the sea by rocky headlands.

Distribution

Native in peninsular Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines.
