Description

Evergreen tree to 25 m tall. Leaves 8-25 cm long, ovate to elliptic, margin wavy, shallowly rounded teeth. Flowers 1-1.3 cm across, white, in dense racemes at leaf axils, petals deeply and finely fringed. Fruits 2-3 cm long, spherical to oval or ellipsoid, ripening olive green to yellowish brown, endocarp rugose.


Ecology

Common in lowland evergreen to deciduous forest.

Distribution

Bangladesh, Andaman Is., Myanmar, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra.

Uses

The oily fruits are edible.
