Description

Large deciduous tree to 45 m tall, crown widely conical, narrowly flat-topped. Leaves 4-14 cm long, obovate. Flowers greenish yellow on 20 cm spikes. Fruits 2-winged, dry.

Ecology

Lowland evergreen forest.

Distribution

Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Java and Borneo.

Uses

Species produces a general utility timber, commercially traded as ketapang.
