Description

Solitary understorey palm to c. 6 m tall, c. 10 cm diam. Petiole 2-4 m long with large orbicular fronds, 1.2-1.8 m across, 7-30 segments. Inflorescence much longer than fronds to 3 m or longer extending beyond the crown. Flowers large to 1.7 cm long. Fruits ellipsoid to c. 2 cm long.


Ecology

Moist deciduous forest. Sometimes common on lower slopes of some limestone hills.

Distribution

Bangladesh, NE India, Myanmar, Thailand and norther Peninsular Malaysia. Also recorded in Andaman Islands, India.
