Description

Solitary understorey palm to c. 6 m tall, c. 10 cm diam. Petiole 2-4 m long with large entire orbicular fronds, 1.2-1.8 m across. Inflorescence much longer than fronds to 3 m or longer extending beyond the crown. Flowers large to 1.7 cm long. Fruits ellipsoid to c. 2 cm long.


Ecology

Lowland forest.

Distribution

Endemic in peninsular Thailand.

Uses

Sometimes cultivated in botanic gardens for its beautiful unsegmented fronds.
