Gebang, Buri
Description
The species is similar to Corypha umbraculifera but smaller in all of its parts, has spiralling leaf bases, and has much more deeply segmented leaves. It has a brownish petiole whereas C. umbraculifera has green petioles.
Distribution
It has a wider distribution than Corypha umbraculifera, north-eastern India, throughout Southeast Asia, and to northern Australia.
Uses
Leaves are used as thatch and widely used in weaving fans, baskets and mats.
