Description
Evergreen shrub to small tree to 15 m tall. Leaves opposite. Flowers in clusters of white flowers, 1-2 cm long, very fragrant. Fruits in paired follicles, pendulous, 18-43 cm long.
Ecology
An understory plant of the deciduous forest.
Distribution
Native in subcontinental India to Indochina and south China.
Uses
It is often cultivated as an ornamental and known as a medicinal plant.
