Description
Evergreen or briefly deciduous tree to 40 m with spreading flat-topped crown. Leaves 15-60 cm long, narrowly obovate, base with distinctly winged stalk with pair of earl-like lobes. Flowers tiny, yellow or greenish. Fruits c. 0.8 cm long, red-purple.
Ecology
Locally common in freshwater swamp to lowland and lower montane forests.
Distribution
Thailand, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Bangka Island and Borneo.
Uses
The timber produces a light hardwood. Used in making match boxes and packing cases.
